April 2009 CAMP Connect Newsletter
CAMP is a small, targeted program run through the high schools of AISD.
The Principals and the Plan...
Several AISD High Schools pick motivated students who are interested in bettering their potential scores on the PSAT/NMSQT with the help of professional Ph.D. level tutors and Princeton Review authority, Chris Blazier. A stipend is paid to students by SF to reward their hard and diligent work, and they spend Sunday afternoons with Mr. Blazier & Ms. Martinez and the other tutors and follow up by email. After the PSAT, Seedling Foundation keeps help coming in preparation for the SAT and college application.
The Students...
Sophomores who perform at a high level on their 10th grade PSAT are identified by their Principals and offered slots in the CAMP program. They sign a contract with the Seedling Foundation and the fun begins!
The Parents...
The CAMP Parents join with Seedling Foundation Executive Director, Sari Waxler as she shares the benefit of her thirty plus years of counseling and GEAR Up program experience. Financial Aid, Applications, Essays and more are covered in great sessions throughout the program.
