February, 2009

Seedling Foundation congratulates its Advisory Board Member Maria Hernandez on her recent invitation to join the members of the Mentoring Children of Prisoners Support Center Advisory Board.  She was chosen from a group of over sixty applicants due to her expertise and interest in mentoring children of prisoners and her continuing relationship with the Seedling Foundation’s Seedling’s Promise program.  Ms. Hernandez will serve a year on the MCP Advisory Board, giving the Seedling Foundation a formal voice in the national dialogue for mentoring children of the incarcerated.

Ms. Hernandez was nominated by Ann Adalist-Estrin, noted trainer and director of National Resource Center on Children and Families of the Incarcerated at Family Corrections Network.  She will attend four meetings per year, the first of which will be in Washington D.C. in March, 2009, and will have the opportunity to work with the MCP Support Center for the benefit of children of incarcerated parents and mentoring children of prisoners programs across the nation.
